THE 281st ASSAULT HELICOPTER COMPANY SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC.

    The purpose of the 281st Assault Helicopter Company Scholarship (hereafter referred to as “the program”) is to perpetuate the memory and to recognize the valor of those personnel who served in the 281st AHC, In particular, the purpose is to memorialize those missing in action (“MIA”), those killed in action (“KIA”), and those who served honorably in the unit. To this end the 281st AHC Scholarship Fund annually awards scholarship Grants in memory of these individuals.

    The Program is administered by a Scholarship Trustee Board (hereafter referred to as “the Board”) composed of former members of the 281st AHC, their spouses and/or their children. The Board members will oversee/manage the fund and evaluate all applicants who apply. The Chairman of the Board (hereafter referred to as “the Chairman”) shall annually select no less than three (3) members of the Board who will individually evaluate scholarship applicants for that year. Any direct descendent of an individual who served in the 281st AHC, or of their spouse, may apply for scholarship assistance. Following the completion of the annual selection process the Chairman shall notify the 281st AHC Association Board of Directors of the Board’s decisions.

SCHOLARSHIP GRANT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

 a. Applicant must be a high and or home school graduate or a high school
                             or  home school student anticipating graduation during the year of his /her
                             application.

 b. Applicant must be able to prove academic ability, interest in scholarship
                             and leadership in school and community affairs.

 c. By submission of a formal application the applicant agrees to the
                             following:

(1). All documents submitted as part of the scholarship application
                              process are the sole property of the 281st AHC Association.

(2). The use of all awardees’ names and personal information for the
                               purpose of promotion is granted to the 281st AHC Association
                               without promise of favor or remuneration. In this regard all such
                               names and personal information shall be used only for the
                               betterment of the scholarship program or for the recognition of the
                               awardees.
  All releases must be made in good taste, and without
                               any malice that  would mar the 281st AHC Association Memorial
                               Scholarship Program or adversely affect the awardees.

d. In the event that two or more applicants equally meet the established
                            criteria, first preference will be given to children of individuals who were
                            lost while serving in the 281st AHC and have yet to be returned to their
                            families; second preference will be given to first generation children of
                            former members of the 281st AHC; and final preference will be for
                            grandchildren of former members of the 281st AHC.


            TIME FRAME FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS:

             Scholarship Grant Application:(1). Applications will be available at the 281st AHC annual reunion and/ or may be requested from the Board secretary at any time.  Information relating to the scholarship program will also be published n each association newsletter. The deadline for all formal requests for applications is February 15 of the year in which the applicant is applying.
