We are undertaking a big project that requires your help.  As you may know MACV-SOG was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and there are questions as to who is covered by the award.  Some say that the 281^st as being part of the 5^th and Delta is covered but the issue is unclear and the chap that wrote and pushed the award does not believe that individual helicopter companies are included and as such were not named. 

Our goal is to clear this up with the Presidential Unit Citation being awarded to the 281^st on it’s own merits.   We have ask Ken Smith to approach a CA Congressman that wears the CIB and was very helpful to us in a past project to see if we can get his support as a starter.  If you are close to any other congressman or senator who you can get to help please let us know. From each of you we need facts on key events that the 281^st participated in with Delta and SOG.  We have all of the Delta after action reports and some stories on the web but we are short on major actions that took place in the early days ( 6^th PLT &  145^th)  and the latter days such as the mission into Cambodia. 

Please search your minds and records and send us anything you might have that we can develop into supporting documents.  As we progress we will need statements from you and especially from key personnel.  We can do this.
