PVT Timothy  John Carolan Joined the 281st AHC in December of  1968 serving as an administrative clerk in the unit headquarters.  On the evening of Wednesday June 18, 1969 he was manning a perimeter guard tower as part of his assigned guard duty when at approximately 0300 hours he failed to respond to the call of a walking guard.   The walking guard checked his status and found him to be unconscious.  Attempts by the officer of the day to retrieve him failed and he was transported to the 5th Special Forces Medical facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.  An investigation reveled that his death was not due to hostile forces or a medical condition.
