Unit Awards...                        

The 281st Assault Helicopter Company was very highly decorated.  During its history, the 281st was decorated by the United States Army, The United States Navy and the Republic of Vietnam.  These awards, the Valorous Unit Award, the Meritorious Unit Award, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Navy Unit Commendation are shown above in the order of precedence.  The 281st was awarded a Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm every year it was operational from 1965-1970.  In 1970 the unit was awarded the Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Gold Star.  Click on the individual ribbon to see the award criteria and specific Citation or General Order if available.
