Intruder R&R

During the week of 25 March, SPC Chris Hodges of G Company and his wife were in Washington, D.C. as the guest of the foundation No Greater Love and the Intruder family. Chris serves as a Blackhawk crew chief with our namesake, the Intruders of G Company currently deployed to Afghanistan.

He was reunited with his wife in Washington during his mid-tour leave. (We knew it as R&R.) Carmela LaSpada , founder of No Greater Love arranged for the Hodges to have free meals in excellent restaurants, a private tour of the Capitol and Arlington National Cemetery. Their hotel cost was also donated. Our own Intruder 6, Jack Mayhew, coordinated the visit and was instrumental in ensuring the Hodges’ R&R was an unforgettable experience.

From a description on their website, No Greater Love (NGL) is an independent non-profit organization that encourages Americans to honor the sacrifices of our fallen and their families. NGL asks each of us to live honoring America’s fallen every day by giving back to the Nation and to unite in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 p.m. each Memorial Day.

Through its founder, Carmela LaSpada, NGL seeks to provide a sense of history to our citizens; ensuring younger generations understand the sacrifices made to preserve our liberties. No Greater Love was established 40 years ago to promote the values of Memorial Day by acts of remembrance throughout the year.
