Intruder Maintenance
A section of
the Service Platoon, the Aircraft Maintenance Section, better know as "Intruder
Maintenance," kept the aircraft flying and shooting. Working
with the Crew Chiefs and Door Gunners, Intruder Maintenance performed
the unit level maintenance on the aircraft and weapons systems.
Combined with the 483rd Transportation Detachment and the 499th Signal
Detachment, Intruder Maintenance produced an 85 to 90% Operational
Readiness Level (OR) almost all the time. Due to the excellent
maintenance on our aircraft, many of them are still flying today, some
in the National Guard and others in Allied Countries.
